BC Lung is a leader in public and professional education programs, advocacy and research in the field of lung health. We support programs throughout the province aimed at improving the lung health of British Columbians.
Programs include:
- QuitNow - Online tobacco cessation program to prevent young people from ever becoming cigarette smokers and to help smokers quit.
- Asthma Summer Camp to teach children and their parents how to manage their condition and medication.
- Patient Educational Forums on Asthma, COPD, RSV, Flu, Radon and Air Quality.
- Free online exercise programs for COPD patients
- Lung Transplant patient housing support for patients outside Lower Mainland
- Medical research aimed at lung disease prevention and treatment including Asthma, COPD, TB, Emphysema, Lung Cancer, Wood smoke and Air Quality.
- Educational seminars to train health professionals including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and rehabilitation therapists.
- Bursaries to Thompson Rivers University for Respiratory Therapist students and Fellowships at UBC to train lung specialists.
- International lung health initiatives through our strong association with the World Lung Foundation, the Union-North America Region (NAR) - regional arm of the International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union) and other international lung health organizations.
- Annual International TB Conference - BC Lung is an organizational member of The Union and acts as the Secretariat, organizing and hosting The Union-NAR's annual conference.
