Community Salmon Program

by PACIFIC SALMON FOUNDATION

The Pacific Salmon Foundation (PSF) takes a practical approach to salmon stewardship by leveraging and sharing resources within the community. PSF’s Community Salmon Program is a grantmaking program that supports volunteer and community–driven organizations that undertake salmon conservation and restoration projects in British Columbia and the Yukon. The program makes annual grants totaling more than $1.5 million. The majority of these funds are generated through sales of the Recreational Fisheries Conservation Stamp, commonly known as the Salmon Stamp, by Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

The impact of every contribution is multiplied by community partnerships that can result in access to matching funds, and donations of additional goods and services for projects. Over 300 streamkeeping groups and other community groups (and over 30,000 volunteers) steward creeks and rivers, operate community hatcheries, run education programs and more to support
