MOOSE HIDE FOUNDATION
Saanichton, British ColumbiaThe Moose Hide Campaign invites men, boys and all Canadians to a healing journey rooted in Indigenous ways of learning and healing to end violence against women, children and all those along the gender continuum. Because right now, in Canada, the unacceptable is still happening. 1 in 2 women in Canada have experienced at least one incident of physical or sexual violence since the age of 16. Spousal violence of Indigenous women is 3 times higher than non-Indigenous women. A woman or girl is murdered every 2.5 days in Canada. And Indigenous women are killed at 6 times the rate of non-Indigenous women. The Moose Hide Campaign envisions a Canada founded in reconciliation and safety. With the understanding that gender-based and domestic violence is rooted in colonialism, sexism and racism, we call men, boys and all Canadians to a wellness journey grounded in Indigenous ways of learning and healing so that all our daughters, sisters, wives, mothers and friends may know safety.
The Moose Hide Foundation provides age-appropriate educational resources, programming and materials to interrupt the intergenerational transmission of gender-based and domestic violence.
