Mobile Hub

As an organization with a mandate to remove barriers for Canadians who are blind or partially sighted, we must adapt to meet the evolving needs of the community we serve. The CNIB Mobile Hub provides us with an opportunity to diversify our programs and offer participants more opportunities to connect with others in rural and remote communities as well as urban centres. It is a new program delivery model where we visit your community to deliver in-person programming for people who are blind or partially sighted.

The CNIB Mobile Hub brings our innovative programs to life in communities in Ontario and other provinces. We set up shop in local community spaces and deliver programs that will enable participants to join us for face-to-face group technology training, employment skills workshops, youth music programs, senior coffee chats, recreational programs such as adaptive yoga classes, and peer support groups. Programming is offered throughout the day and evening, providing opportunities for everyone to attend. Our free programs are available to people who are blind or partially sighted as well as their families, friends, and caregivers.

Technology is a key focus of the CNIB Mobile Hub through innovative CNIB SmartLife products that are available for demonstration and purchase. With live product demos, we provide participants with hands-on access to the latest breakthroughs in accessible technologies, as well as tried-and-true favorites. Participants also learn about the new CNIB SmartLife Tech@Home program where experienced and knowledgeable CNIB SmartLife coaches conduct an in-depth assessments and match participants with cutting-edge assistive devices. Participants can try the devices in their daily environment to ensure they fit their unique needs before purchasing.
