Volunteer as a Mobile Hub Greeter with CNIB

CNIB is seeking Mobile Hub Greeter Volunteers to support community pop-up events across multiple regions. This role is well-suited for individuals who enjoy engaging with the public and helping create a welcoming, organized, and accessible environment for visitors.

About the Role

Mobile Hub Greeters are the first point of contact at CNIB’s Mobile Hub events. Volunteers welcome visitors, provide information about services, and help ensure the event runs smoothly and inclusively.

Key Responsibilities

* Welcome and greet visitors as they arrive
* Provide information about CNIB services, programs, and event purpose
* Assist with registration or sign-in when required
* Offer sighted-guiding support to attendees who are blind, have low vision, or are Deafblind
* Direct visitors to staff, service areas, and food stations
* Support event setup, organization, and clean-up as needed
* Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and patient atmosphere
* Follow all CNIB safety and accessibility guidelines

Qualifications

* Friendly, approachable, and comfortable interacting with the public
* Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
* Reliable and punctual
* Comfortable in busy or outdoor event environments
* Willing to learn sighted-guiding techniques (training provided)
* Willing to complete CNIB volunteer screening (interview, references, orientation)
* No prior experience required

Time Commitment

* Flexible based on event schedule and volunteer availability
* Typically 2–4 hours per event
* Opportunities to volunteer at one or multiple events
* Events take place on weekdays only

Training and Support

* Training provided on sighted-guiding, accessibility, and CNIB’s service model
* Orientation specific to the Mobile Hub program
* Ongoing support from CNIB staff during events

Event Locations and Dates

**British Columbia & Yukon**

* April 15, 2026 – Northills Shopping Centre, Kamloops
* April 16, 2026 – Salmon Arm Recreation Centre
* June (TBD) – Golden Age Society, Whitehorse

**Ontario (Various Locations)**
Events are scheduled across April–November 2026 in communities including Oshawa, Malton, Burlington, Windsor, Belleville, Peterborough, Sudbury, Kenora, Dryden, and more.
Locations include community centres, libraries, retirement residences, and public spaces.

Registration Details

* 1–2 volunteer spots are available per event
* Registration deadline is **one month prior** to each event
* Event times are confirmed closer to the date during onboarding
